AGA SPRAYING

Respraying your AGA every few years, protects the surface as well as providing a better finish and allowing you to change your colour scheme. However, preparation is key when spraying AGAs.

The surface must be prepared to receive the new coat of paint, this not only removes surface dirt but any flaking edges and provides a clean surface for the new paint to adhere to. We clean the AGA exterior, descale and prepare for the new paint coat. We then apply a thin layer of undercoat, a base layer, a top layer and then finish off with a clear lacquer to seal the paint.

The paint has to be put on in layers to ensure a durable finish, but it also has to be the right consistency and type of paint as paint expands when heated and if applied too thickly, could cause the paint to crack and flake. All paint used to spray Agas must be special heat resistant paint to ensure that it does not crack or flake when the stove is used.

Whilst we are spraying the AGA, we seal off any surrounding cabinets and fully ventilate the area.

As with any spraying including AGA spraying, to ensure the paint bonds and cures, we would recommend you do not use the AGA for 48 hours after the spraying. This is just to give the spray paint time to adhere properly.

AGA Spraying is not a replacement for re-enameling of the AGA. This is when the surface has deteriorated and needs new enamel applying. Spraying should be used to provide a refreshed and untainted finish or a change of colour scheme.

HOW WE WORK

We will clear the area and clean the Aga that we’re spraying. This is a two-part process. We utilise the cleaning products manufactured specially by the paint supplier, to clean off any contaminants on the surface, to ensure a perfect bond is created for the paint. Then, we rub it down where needed with a very mild abrasive to ensure that the new coating bonds perfectly.

We will protect areas with sheeting that are not being sprayed. Any nearby surfaces are taped up and protected with plastic sheets. We then apply an undercoat, base coat and top coat before applying a clear lacquer finish for durability and sheen.

AGA PAINT COLOURS

You can pick from hundreds of colours, but we’ve included some of our most popular here for you to see

There is a wide choice of colours you could choose from. We can match to over 300 British Standard colours, click here to take look. We also cover any colour on the RAL Colour Chart, Farrow and Ball Colour Chart and Little Greene Company Colour ChartPlease note, where the ever popular Farrow and Ball and Little Greene colours are used, we do not use these branded paints, we use a colour-matching service as they are not fit for purpose to be used directly through our professional equipment, with the paint being a domestic, often water or oil based paint.

We can provide a colour match for you, so if you have a particular colour you want to match to, perhaps the colour of existing kitchen cabinets, then we can go through that process with you.

We strongly advise that you physically look at paint samples and colour charts in situ at your home to ensure you select the right colour. If you want to ensure a solid match to your chosen sample paint pot, you will need to provide the physical sample to us so that we can take this to our supplier for a direct colour-match, as manufacturers’ sample pot colours can vary. Electronic devices and lighting can vary in terms of their representation. Colour-matching is used on all colours except RAL and allows for a 5-15% tolerance.

We cannot be held responsible for any change of mind once the job is completed, so take the time to make the right choice.

You may also want to take a look at some of our previous work in our gallery, as they may inspire your colour choice.
